Next month, PlayStation Plus will see the removal of 22 games from its library, including high-profile titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of Sony's first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This change is scheduled for May 20, 2025.
PlayStation Plus is a premier online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, member-exclusive discounts, and access to a vast catalog of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members.
According to Push Square, the removal of these 22 games is significant, especially as it includes two first-party Sony PS3 titles, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which are exiting the PS Plus Premium library. These games, which were added to the service towards the end of 2024, are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store, making PS Plus Premium the last place to play them on modern consoles.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac Games, consists of alternate history first-person shooters that followed their successful Ratchet and Clank franchise. Three Resistance games were released for the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects like Marvel's Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
Although it's rare for Sony to remove first-party games from PlayStation Plus, precedents exist, such as the unexpected removal of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West in August 2024. Unlike those titles, which were still available for purchase after removal, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be accessible on modern consoles once they are removed from PS Plus.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the more recent first-party PS4 game, InFamous: Second Son, is also slated for removal.
The Resistance series has been inactive for some time. Earlier this year, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price mentioned efforts to develop Resistance 4, but the project did not move forward. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance appears to have been sidelined.
