Sinners Hits Digital Post $350M Global Box Office

Ryan Coogler's critically acclaimed horror film Sinners now available for digital purchase

Sinners

After fleeing their troubled past, twin brothers return to their hometown seeking redemption—only to confront an ancient evil lurking in wait. Now streaming on Prime Video.

Ryan Coogler continues his winning streak with Sinners, his compelling foray into horror. As Eric Goldman noted in IGN's review: "Having mastered both boxing dramas and superhero films, Coogler turns his visionary direction to vampire lore in this period horror piece—and unsurprisingly, he knocks it out of the park." Following its April 18 theatrical debut, the film has earned both commercial success and critical praise.

While the immersive theater experience is ideal (Coogler himself explains why), the film is now available for digital rental or purchase—just six weeks after its cinema release. This follows the industry's trend of shrinking theatrical windows, with comparable films like Warfare and Snow White transitioning to digital in four weeks and two months respectively. For an original R-rated horror film in 2025, maintaining six weeks of theatrical exclusivity remains an impressive achievement.

Remarkable Box Office Performance

Despite its $90 million budget—unusually high for a horror film—Sinners has grossed over $350 million worldwide, currently ranking as 2025's eighth highest-grossing film. This success is particularly notable for an original R-rated horror title still playing in theaters.

Upcoming Home Release Details

The film will eventually stream on HBO Max (Warner Bros.' platform), likely by mid-July based on the studio's recent release patterns. For collectors, 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions arrive July 8, packed with special features including:

  • Dancing with the Devil: The Making of Sinners
  • Thicker than Blood: Becoming the Smokestack Twins
  • Deleted scenes and creature FX breakdowns

All-Star Creative Team

Coogler reunites with frequent collaborators including cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw and composer Ludwig Göransson. The cast features:

  • Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as Elijah "Smoke" Moore and Elias "Stack" Moore
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Mary
  • Delroy Lindo as Delta Slim
  • Wunmi Mosaku as Annie
