Unveiling the New Trailer
The March 13, 2025 Silent Hill Transmission offered fans a deeper look at Silent Hill f, including a captivating new trailer. Shifting away from its familiar American settings, Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan. The game's narrative follows Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life takes a terrifying turn when her town is enveloped in a mysterious fog, undergoing a horrifying transformation. Hinako must navigate this unrecognizable landscape, solving puzzles, battling strange creatures, and ultimately confronting a deeply unsettling choice to survive. This is a story about a beautiful, yet terrifying decision.
Silent Hill f is set in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by the real-life town of Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture. Developers meticulously recreated Ebisugaoka down to its labyrinthine alleyways, using photographs, recordings of everyday life, and historical materials to accurately capture the 1960s atmosphere.
Finding Beauty in Terror

According to series producer Motoi Okamoto, the core concept of Silent Hill f is to "find the beauty in terror." While retaining the series' signature psychological horror, the team aimed to explore the unique atmosphere of Japan and its distinct horror themes.
Okamoto explains, "Japanese horror often presents terror within beauty. The unsettling feeling arises from something excessively beautiful and perfect. Players will experience this through the eyes of a young girl facing a beautiful, yet terrifying choice."
A Standalone Silent Hill Experience

Okamoto emphasizes that Silent Hill f is a standalone story, accessible to newcomers to the series. Long-time fans, however, can anticipate subtle easter eggs. The game's writer, Ryukishi07, known for his psychological Japanese horror visual novels, promises a title that will resonate with fans of his work.
Ryukishi07, a longtime Silent Hill enthusiast, aimed to create a game that both honors the series' origins and introduces new challenges. A key challenge was successfully crafting a Silent Hill game outside the traditional titular town.
He states, "As a creator, I'm confident we've delivered a true Silent Hill experience. However, we're eager to hear from longtime fans and see if they agree."
Silent Hill f is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A release date has yet to be announced. For the latest updates on Silent Hill f, check out our related article!
