Rocksteady begins search for Game Director for its next Batman game

Author : Chloe Mar 17,2025

Rocksteady Studios, the acclaimed developer behind the Batman: Arkham series, is searching for a Game Director for its next major project. Warner Bros. Discovery posted the job listing on February 17th.

The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting a high-quality game design, encompassing all aspects from core gameplay mechanics and player progression to intricate combat systems and compelling mission design. The ideal candidate will possess diverse experience across multiple genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and games emphasizing melee combat. This has fueled speculation of a potential return to the Batman universe, the franchise that catapulted Rocksteady to fame.

The requirements outlined in the job description strongly align with the Batman: Arkham series, contrasting with the gunplay-focused Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

As Rocksteady is in the early stages of recruitment, the game is likely still in the conceptual phase. Industry insider Jason Schreier suggests that, should Rocksteady develop a new single-player Batman title, it wouldn't launch for several years.

Rocksteady's most recent release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, launched February 2nd, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game received mixed reviews, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and 4.2/10 (users).

Previous reports hinted at a possible Rocksteady return to the Batman franchise, with rumors suggesting a project inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
