Avowed Companions
Kai
Kai is one of the first companions you'll meet, becoming a valuable ally early in your adventure at Dawnshore near Paradis. He'll join your party after a brief encounter on the docks, assisting you in your quest to find the Ambassador and Cleric. He's a formidable ex-mercenary, a true tank in combat, capable of both sustaining and dealing significant damage. His fire abilities are also useful for clearing environmental obstacles, revealing hidden paths and loot.
Kai's upgradeable abilities include:
- Fire and Ire (Active): A powerful blunderbuss shot that stuns and taunts a single enemy.
- Unbending Defense (Active): Regenerates health and increases damage reduction.
- Leap of Daring (Active): A powerful leap that stuns and taunts nearby enemies.
- Second Win (Passive): Revives Kai with 50% health upon death.
Marius
Marius, encountered in Dawnshore, shares a history with Kai and can join your party after a bar encounter, whether you choose diplomacy or combat. This expert hunter and tracker brings his skills to both narrative and gameplay. His Hunter Sense helps locate loot and crafting materials, while his combat prowess utilizes bow and arrow, daggers, and nature-bending abilities to trap enemies.
Marius' upgradeable abilities include:
- Binding Roots (Active): Roots an enemy in place.
- Heart Seeker (Active): A piercing shot that ignores obstacles.
- Shadow Step (Active): A multi-hit stealth attack.
- Wounding Shots (Passive): Inflicts bleed damage.
Giatta
Found later in the Emerald Stair region at Fior, Giatta is an animancer whose magic plays a crucial role in the main quest. While not a heavy damage dealer, Giatta provides essential support through healing, shielding, and buffs. Her Spectral Jolt ability activates Essence Generators, opening up new areas for exploration.
Giatta's upgradeable abilities include:
- Purification (Active): Heals all allies.
- Barrier (Active): Provides a temporary health shield to allies.

Yatzli
Yatzli, the final companion, joins your party during a main quest in Thirdborn within the Shatterscarp region (though she can be encountered earlier).
