Metal Slug: Awakening breathes new life into the iconic 90s run-and-gun series. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has undergone development and name changes, finally launching in Southeast Asia in late 2023. Now, it's poised for worldwide release.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a beloved Japanese run-and-gun franchise, debuting in 1996 courtesy of Nazca Corporation and evolving into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
This new iteration stays true to its roots with classic shooting mechanics, enhanced by modernized graphics and innovative gameplay features. Rejoin familiar Metal Slug characters in fresh missions, tackling a World Adventure mode, teaming up with friends in 3-player co-op, and conquering Roguelike challenges.
