Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content, recently revealed his impressive Pokémon TCG Pocket collection on Twitter (X). Since the game's October 30, 2024 launch, he's purchased the maximum 720 Poké Gold daily.
This daily expenditure, estimated at around $100, translates to a total investment of approximately $8,500 over 85 days (excluding potential sales). His dedication resulted in a complete collection of cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, along with limited-edition promotional cards. The recently released "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded for global card collection milestones, is also part of his impressive haul.
McDonald's Collaboration Adds to the Excitement
Adding to the buzz, The Pokémon Company announced a collaboration with McDonald's on January 21, 2025. Happy Meal purchases now include exclusive Pokémon TCG Pocket-themed boxes containing collectible physical cards and in-game rewards.
Fifteen unique physical cards, including popular Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, Rayquaza, and more (seven featuring a holographic finish), are available randomly. TCG Pocket players can also redeem in-game rewards: 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses to enhance their collection.
Four distinct Happy Meal box designs featuring Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, Dragonite, and Pikachu are available at participating McDonald's locations while supplies last. Remember, in-game rewards expire on March 31, 2025.
Trading Feature on the Horizon
On January 17, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced details of its upcoming trading feature. Trading will initially be limited to friends with cards of matching rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards, such as Special Illustration Rares, Immersives, and Crown Rares, will not be tradable. A consumable item, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO, will facilitate trades.
While initially focusing on cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, the developers have promised to expand the tradable card pool based on player feedback. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January 2025.
