Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading feature launch has been underwhelming, despite high player demand. This has led developers to announce a rework of the trading system.
As a temporary measure, all players will receive 1,000 Trade Tokens via the in-game Gifts menu. Trade Tokens are an in-game currency necessary for card trading. This giveaway aims to alleviate player frustration while the trading system is revised.
The original trading system faced criticism for its restrictions, including rarity limitations and the requirement of Trade Tokens. Many believed these limitations were unnecessary and hampered the trading experience.
Reworking the Trading System
The developers' decision to implement a trading system with restrictions, rather than an open system or no trading at all, has proven controversial. While concerns about botting and exploitation are valid, many players felt the existing restrictions were overly burdensome and easily circumvented by determined players.
The upcoming rework is crucial. A well-implemented trading system in a digital TCG could significantly enhance its appeal as a viable alternative to the physical card game.
