Among the most eagerly awaited releases I covered last year, one that stands out is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that hit the scene when the genre was still relatively fresh. Now, its sequel is set to launch in Q3 of this year!
This sequel, humorously dubbed a "seaquel," brings you back to New Elysia for another thrilling adventure across the ocean waves. Start your journey by choosing a character, a class ability, and a starting deck, and set sail!
In Pirates Outlaws 2, you'll have the freedom to select from multiple characters, each with seven class options. You can customize your deck and even recruit an animal companion to enhance the strategic depth of your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, you'll have a variety of weapons at your disposal to conquer the seas!
Run out the gunsPirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, allowing you to roam freely across the map and explore even more permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those fortunate enough to be on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first chance to dive into Pirates Outlaws 2!
My only concern stems from the animations in the reveal trailer, which seem a bit static to me. Fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, but I'm hoping the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it launches on mobile later this year.
