TOEM: A Photo Adventure is now available in early access on Android. This delightful indie game, already a success on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, has won fans over with its charming hand-drawn visuals and unique photography-based gameplay.
Originally created by the Swedish studio Something We Made, the mobile version is being handled by fellow Swedish developer Snapbreak Games. It offers a serene experience with cleverly designed quests, inviting players on a tranquil journey through Nordic-inspired landscapes.
What is the gameplay like in TOEM: A Photo Adventure?
You step into the shoes of a young photographer on a pilgrimage to a mountain summit to witness the magical phenomenon known as Toem. Traveling by bus between quaint towns, you assist locals and solve gentle puzzles along the way.
By completing tasks, you earn stamps to pay for the next stage of your trip. Objectives vary from capturing the perfect shot to finding a particular creature. Some challenges will even test your creativity as you interpret the quirky requests of the characters you meet.
While the overall pace is relaxed, there's always a clear goal to pursue. The photography itself is done from a first-person view, while you navigate the beautifully crafted world from an isometric perspective.
Customization is part of the fun. Certain quests demand a specific outfit, while others allow you to dress up your character just for the joy of it. You might even earn a silly hat or accessory to wear in your next photo.
