The new show is set in 1953 Britain, and casting decisions have not yet been announced. The series will feature six hour-long episodes per season. One exciting development that has been revealed is that original star Cillian Murphy has joined as an executive producer.
According to the BBC, the official synopsis states: "Britain, 1953. After enduring heavy bombing during WWII, Birmingham is constructing a brighter future from concrete and steel. In this new chapter of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the competition to control Birmingham’s massive reconstruction becomes a fierce battle of legendary proportions. This city is filled with unprecedented opportunity and peril—and the Shelby family remains at its blood-soaked core."
Creator Steven Knight shared his excitement in a statement: “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce this next phase of the Peaky Blinders saga. Once again set in Birmingham, the story will follow the city’s rebirth after the devastation of the Birmingham Blitz. A new generation of Shelbys is now in charge, and it’s going to be an unforgettable journey.”
Fans of Peaky Blinders have plenty to anticipate soon, with a film sequel scheduled for release next year. Titled The Immortal Man, the movie will continue from where the final season left off. Murphy will reprise his role in the film, supported by a cast including Stephen Graham, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Rebecca Ferguson.
