Pocketpair, the developer behind the immensely popular game Palworld, is gearing up for a significant update set to launch in late March 2025. This eagerly anticipated update will introduce crossplay functionality, enabling seamless multiplayer experiences across all platforms. Additionally, the update will feature world transfer capabilities for Pals, enhancing the game's flexibility and player engagement. While Pocketpair has remained tight-lipped on further specifics, a promotional image released on X/Twitter showcases a thrilling battle involving multiple Palworld characters against a formidable Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, has hinted at "a few little surprises" accompanying the March update, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans. This news is particularly welcome for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024. The studio's ambitious content roadmap for 2025 includes not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and further new content, ensuring continued engagement for the creature-catching survival game's vast community.

Since its launch on Steam for $30 and its inclusion in Game Pass on Xbox and PC, Palworld has shattered sales and concurrent player records. The overwhelming success of the game led Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, to admit that the studio was unprepared for the massive profits it generated. Swift to capitalize on this breakout success, Pocketpair signed a deal with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture aimed at expanding the game's intellectual property and bringing Palworld to the PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement of "multiple" patent rights and seeking both an injunction and compensation for damages. In response, Pocketpair has adjusted the mechanics of summoning Pals within the game and has pledged to defend its position vigorously in court, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
