Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to use the Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen.

Since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, fans have been curious about the functionality of the new Joy-Con controllers and their innovative "mouse mode." Last month, Nintendo provided official confirmation that the Joy-Con supports this feature, allowing users to glide the controllers across flat surfaces while using the analog sticks to simulate left-click and right-click actions—just like a traditional mouse. What’s more, two Joy-Con can even be used simultaneously in mouse mode, or paired with one in standard mode and the other in mouse mode for added flexibility.

But there's more to uncover. As revealed through the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, the Joy-Con mouse controls are fully functional within the Switch 2’s Home menu interface.

According to Nintendo, “If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen.” The company further explained, “To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown.”

“While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus,” Nintendo continued. “You can use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software.” When you're ready to switch back to traditional thumbstick navigation, simply rotate the Joy-Con 2 into a horizontal position.

While it remains unclear exactly how many games will support mouse controls at launch, Nintendo has already showcased compatibility with titles such as Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and the unique wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
