Author : Lucas May 14,2025

Nintendo has officially announced the pre-order date and pricing details for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 console and its accompanying accessories. The base model of the Nintendo Switch 2 remains priced at $449.99, with the bundle featuring Mario Kart World set at $499.99. Mario Kart World continues to be available as a standalone game for $79.99, while Donkey Kong Bananza will cost $69.99.

However, there's a noticeable shift in the pricing of the accessories for the Nintendo Switch 2. Here's a detailed breakdown of the new prices:

  • Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - $84.99
  • Joy-Con 2 Pair - $94.99
  • Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip - $39.99
  • Joy-Con 2 Strap - $13.99
  • Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set - $24.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - $54.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set - $119.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector - $39.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case - $84.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter - $34.99

Nintendo's announcement on their official site explained that these price adjustments for Switch 2 accessories are due to "changes in market conditions." Notable price increases include a $5 bump for major items like the Joy-Con 2 Pair, the Switch 2 Pro Controller, and the camera. The Switch 2 Dock Set, however, saw a $10 increase, moving from $109.99 to $119.99.

The community has been vocal about the rising costs, particularly with the Joy-Con 2 Pair now nearing a triple-digit price at $94.99. This has led to some potential buyers expressing confusion and concern over the expense.

Despite the price hikes, there's a silver lining for those who already own Switch 1 accessories. Nintendo confirmed that many of these will remain compatible with the Switch 2. This includes the original Joy-Con controllers and the Nintendo Switch 1 Pro controller, which can be wirelessly paired, though they cannot be directly attached. Additionally, legacy controllers like those for the Super Nintendo and N64 will still work with compatible games on the Switch 2.

Social media buzz indicates that many users are considering using their existing Switch 1 accessories or exploring third-party options to mitigate costs. While these may lack some features like the C-button or the ability to wake the console, they could offer significant savings for early adopters of the Switch 2.

Nintendo has also cautioned that future price adjustments are possible, stating, "Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions." This provides a bit of reassurance for those concerned about the current pricing.

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will commence on April 24, 2025, giving potential buyers time to consider their options in light of these new pricing details.
