It feels like we've been speculating for years about the specs of Nintendo's long-rumored Nintendo Switch upgrade. Now that we finally know, the results are more impressive than many anticipated, including support for 120fps and up to 4K resolution when the system is docked.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled several exciting features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With double the pixels, it supports a stunning 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD type, supporting HDR. When docked, it can deliver up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.The Joy-Con 2 controllers are now connected via magnets and can be detached with a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides have been enlarged for easier horizontal play, and both the left and right sticks are larger too. This segment also officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a larger, more robust stand that can be adjusted to various heights. Additionally, there's a top USB port for external camera connectivity or to charge the system in tabletop mode.
Finally, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage.
