Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Claims
Following rumors surrounding a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup showcased by accessory maker Genki at CES 2025, Nintendo has issued a statement.
According to statements given to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper, Nintendo clarified that the images and videos circulating are not official. The company explicitly denied providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by displaying a purported 3D-printed Switch 2 model. They further claimed to possess a functional Switch 2 unit and even hinted at a release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for prospective Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup.
Nintendo, however, has remained tight-lipped about concrete details regarding the Switch 2, only confirming that backwards compatibility with the original Switch and its games is planned. This recent controversy may prompt Nintendo to accelerate their official announcement of the console.
