The Type-40 Sword is the reward for completing the side quest "Find a Present," the final quest in a series related to Operator 6O. To initiate this quest line, you must first complete two preceding quests. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Post-Chapter 5: After defeating Adam and Eve in Chapter 5, you'll receive a communication from Operator 6O. This message, titled "Investigating Communications," is crucial and should be addressed immediately.

Chapter 6 & 7 Progression: Advance through the main storyline, completing Chapter 6 (Forest Castle events) and initiating Chapter 7.

"Terminal Repairs": Following a conversation with Pascal about A2 and exploration of the city ruins, Operator 6O will contact you again, instructing you to check your inbox at an access point to begin the "Terminal Repairs" quest.

"Find a Present": While returning to the Resistance Camp during Chapter 7, you'll receive a final message from Operator 6O regarding flowers. This message, found in your inbox, starts the "Find a Present" quest.
