Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of the late, legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy, who will posthumously lend his voice to the character VP Baines in this much-anticipated series. Conroy, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman across various animated projects, can be heard in the opening moments of the trailer.
Back in July 2024, Conroy's final voice performance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 was met with widespread acclaim, making his role in Devil May Cry a poignant addition to his legacy. Tragically, Conroy passed away in November 2022 at the age of 66. Joining him in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch, who voices the series' protagonist, Dante.
According to the official synopsis from Netflix, "Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck."
The series is helmed by showrunner Adi Shankar, who has an impressive resume as an executive producer on films like the 2012 Judge Dredd reboot Dredd, Killing Them Softly starring Brad Pitt, and The Voices with Ryan Reynolds. Shankar is also set to executive produce an adaptation of Assassin's Creed, although its release remains uncertain after being announced in 2017.
The production of Devil May Cry will be handled by Studio Mir, a renowned South Korean studio with a strong track record on projects such as The Legend of Korra and X-Men '97. Mark your calendars: Devil May Cry is set to premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025.
