Monster Hunter Now Tests Exciting New Monster Outbreaks Feature
Niantic is experimenting with a brand-new gameplay concept called Monster Outbreaks in Monster Hunter Now. The developers are currently gathering player feedback during a limited test run before potentially implementing it as a permanent feature.
Monster Outbreaks Testing Schedule
The trial period occurs on April 26-27, with two one-hour sessions daily. Hunters can participate from 10:00-10:59 AM and 3:00-3:59 PM local time each day.
How Monster Outbreaks Work
During these limited windows, special outbreak locations marked on your map will spawn groups of challenging 8-star Black Diablos. The community challenge requires hunters to eliminate 100 monsters at each outbreak point within the hour. Participants must be Hunter Rank 11+ and can only join through in-person co-op - no remote party features are allowed.
Each outbreak point shows player sign-ups, helping hunters coordinate their efforts. The unique group mechanics mean every participant's kills count toward the shared goal - if four hunters take down one Black Diablos, it counts as four toward the 100-target.
Rewards and Strategies
Successful groups that reach the 100-kill benchmark will earn valuable rewards including Black Diablos materials and 2,000 Zenny. Participants who use the sign-up feature also receive a commemorative Outbreak Test I Medal.
Even after completing the community goal, hunters can continue battling Black Diablos for the remainder of the event period. This limited-time test offers a unique opportunity to stock up on rare materials while helping shape the game's future.
