Lego Unveils New Minecraft Movie Sets Featuring Familiar and Unexpected Mobs
Ahead of the upcoming live-action Minecraft movie, Lego has announced two new sets offering a glimpse into the film's action-packed scenes and showcasing key characters. As reported by GamesRadar, these sets – the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack – expand the existing Minecraft Lego lineup, including minifigures of Jack Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's The Garbage Man.
The $49.99 Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring (491 pieces) depicts a gladiatorial battle featuring Momoa's character facing off against a zombie riding a giant chicken. The scale of this unusual pairing remains unclear, but the chicken-zombie combo is notably taller than The Garbage Man himself. The set also includes Steve, Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a treasure chest, and a small viewing stand with weaponry.
The Ghast Balloon Village Attack set ($69.99, 555 pieces) introduces the Nether's Ghast into the fray, suggesting a large-scale battle within a standard overworld village. This set features one villager, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem, promising a dynamic conflict.
Both sets launch March 1st, a month before the Minecraft movie's theatrical release on April 4th. The movie itself faced initial criticism upon its September reveal, with fans expressing concerns about the contrast between the live-action characters and the CGI-animated world. However, the director and producer, in a November interview with IGN, expressed confidence in their vision and preparedness for audience reactions.
