Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of new features and updates set to enhance the world's best-selling video game. The first game drop of the year, named "Spring to Life," is scheduled to launch on March 25. This update will breathe new life into the Overworld by making biomes more immersive and vibrant. Players can look forward to new variants of familiar mobs such as cows, pigs, and chickens, alongside captivating ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the soft whispers of sand. These additions promise to enrich the exploration experience in Minecraft.
The second game drop of the year, while yet to be named, will introduce a novel block called the Dried Ghast. This block, slightly smaller than a regular block and adorned with cute tentacles and a grumpy face, can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling—a smaller, baby version of a ghast. The Ghastling, resembling a floating balloon in the Overworld, can be fed snowballs until it evolves into the Happy Ghast. Players can craft a Ghast harness to ride the Happy Ghast, allowing up to four players to soar through the skies together. Additionally, the new Locator Bar at the bottom of the screen will help players locate their friends, making it easier to reunite while flying on a Happy Ghast. Mojang highlighted the Happy Ghast's utility in Survival Mode, likening it to a taste of Creative Mode freedom within the constraints of Survival.

Alongside these updates, Mojang shared a new clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event starting on March 25. This event, set in Midport Village, will involve players teaming up with Steve and other movie characters to defend the village from a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. The event will run from March 25 to April 7, with participants who complete all challenges earning the exclusive Yearn cape.

- The new Locator Bar feature, positioned at the bottom of the screen, lets you see in which direction your friends are. That will be useful for finding friends while flying a Happy Ghast.
- Mojang said the Happy Ghast will be useful for Survival Mode builders, because "it's a bit like being in Creative Mode, but in Survival." The platform lets you position wherever you like in the sky and dismount.
