Microsoft has officially locked in its plans for June 2025, announcing two major events: the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.
As per tradition, Microsoft will host its annual Xbox Games Showcase in June, and this year is no exception. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed globally on Sunday, June 8, beginning at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK time. The event promises to highlight a wide array of upcoming titles from Microsoft’s first-party studios, as well as new games from third-party developers around the world.
What Could Be Revealed at Xbox Games Showcase 2025?
Microsoft currently has an expansive lineup of games in development, including:
- Fable (now delayed to 2026)
- Perfect Dark reboot
- Clockwork Revolution from inXile Entertainment
- Ninja Gaiden 4
- Contraband, developed by the team behind Just Cause
- Everwild from Rare
- Gears of War: E-Day from The Coalition

On the Activision Blizzard front, fans can expect updates on the next Call of Duty title coming later this year, along with other releases from Blizzard. There's also potential for news about the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 remaster, set to launch in July 2025.
From Bethesda, attendees might finally learn more about the future of Starfield, including a possible PlayStation 5 release date announcement. Additionally, there may be updates regarding The Elder Scrolls 6.
There’s also always room for hardware reveals. While Microsoft is reportedly planning a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld for 2027, it’s unlikely these will debut at this year’s showcase. However, Microsoft could provide updates on third-party Xbox-branded handheld devices.
The Outer Worlds 2 Direct
Following the success of previous game-specific presentations like the 2023 Starfield Direct and the 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, Microsoft will continue the trend with The Outer Worlds 2 Direct, immediately after the main showcase.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment—fresh off the release of Avowed—this direct will offer fans an exclusive look inside the studio. Attendees can expect to see new gameplay footage, developer commentary, and in-depth details about the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning sci-fi RPG.
Given that The Outer Worlds 2 is slated for a late 2025 release, there’s a strong chance Microsoft will reveal the official release date during this presentation.
