Summary
Starting January 7th, Xbox Game Pass introduces Quests for PC users, offering rewards exclusively to players 18 and older. These changes include daily, weekly, and monthly point-earning opportunities, plus the return of weekly streaks. Players earn rewards by playing at least 15 minutes of any eligible Game Pass title, but access to these new benefits is restricted to those 18 and older.
Microsoft is significantly updating Xbox Game Pass, adding Quests to the PC version and introducing new point-earning methods. To ensure "age-appropriate gaming experiences," these new Game Pass Rewards are limited to players 18 and older.
Xbox Game Pass provides access to a vast game library on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs for a monthly subscription. The service offers various tiers with differing benefits, including Quests and Rewards where points are earned for completing quests, redeemable for various rewards. Microsoft is enhancing this system.
As announced on Xbox Wire, beginning January 7th, Quests are no longer exclusive to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. PC Game Pass users can now earn rewards, increasing point accumulation opportunities. All players 18 or older with active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscriptions can access Xbox Quests and the Rewards Hub via their profile. A minimum playtime is required to earn points, and Quests only apply to titles within the Game Pass catalog, excluding those with third-party launchers.
Game Pass Quests and Rewards Changes
- Quests available for PC Game Pass members starting January 7th.
- New Game Pass quests include:
- Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks: Play at least five days a week to build a streak. Longer streaks earn more points; a two-week streak earns double points, three weeks earns triple, and four or more weeks earns quadruple points.
- Monthly 4-Pack: Play four different games (15 minutes each) monthly.
- Monthly 8-Pack: Play eight different games (15 minutes each) monthly (the 4-Pack games count towards this).
- PC Weekly Bonus: Earn 150 points by playing (at least 15 minutes) for five or more days.
- The Rewards Hub (used for tracking and earning points on Xbox consoles, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox mobile app) is no longer accessible to players under 18.
The updated Game Pass Quest system simplifies point earning with daily, weekly, and monthly rewards, including the reinstated weekly streaks. Playing at least five days a week multiplies points, with multipliers increasing up to 4x for consistent weekly participation. Users earn daily points by playing any Game Pass title or monthly points by exploring four to eight different games (15 minutes each).
Players 18 and older can earn a new PC weekly bonus by playing 15 minutes a day for five days. Microsoft emphasizes creating an age-appropriate experience; players under 18 will not have access to these new benefits and rewards. Younger players can only earn rewards through parentally approved Microsoft Store purchases. This update provides new ways for players to enjoy their Game Pass subscription.
