Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide

Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, enjoying renewed popularity thanks to Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. This mission begins after the railcar ride following the anomaly encounter.

Locating the Bomb

After reaching the barricaded escalators and speaking with the defenders, you learn an explosives team went missing while attempting to collapse the tunnel. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows; they'll damage Artyom. Retrieve the bomb and either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.

Destroying the Tunnel

To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically placing and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb thrown into the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: nosalises will still infiltrate through other routes.

Securing the Airlock

The mission isn't over yet. The defenders mentioned an airlock; collapsing it further secures the station. Ascend the stairs on the right to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and interact with the support columns to place a pipe bomb. Evacuate immediately after lighting the fuse. With both entrances destroyed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room and the next mission, "Armory."
