Marvel SNAP: The Best Moonstone Deck

Author : Oliver Mar 17,2025

Quick Links

Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, copies the effects of your other 1-, 2-, and 3-cost Ongoing cards in her lane. Think of her as a boosted Mystique. However, building a successful deck around this powerful but vulnerable card—often called "the Glass Cannon"—presents a challenge.

After extensive testing, the two most effective Moonstone decks utilize Patriot and Tribunal strategies. This guide details how to build and optimize both. A brief review at the end helps you decide if Moonstone deserves a spot in your collection.

The Best Deck for Moonstone

Moonstone excels as a supporting card, not the sole win condition. A reliable approach uses her in a Patriot-Ultron deck, focusing on copying one or two key Ongoing effects rather than over-relying on her ability.

This Moonstone/Patriot/Ultron deck includes: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Moonstone Deck Synergies

  • Set up board buffs with Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
  • Use one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).
  • Play Ultron in the final round to maximize buffed locations.
  • Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird provide backup power if needed.

An Alternative Deck for Moonstone

For a more exciting (though less consistent) strategy, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. Here, Moonstone becomes the win condition. Include: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Ideal Play:

  1. Use Psylocke for early Moonstone placement.
  2. Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in her lane.
  3. Use The Living Tribunal in the final round to distribute power across lanes.

Psylocke and Sera provide cost reduction, Magik extends the game, enabling Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. Captain America and Iron Lad offer backup. While many predicted a Moonstone-Onslaught-Tribunal meta, Super Skrull has proven a significant counter.

How to Counter Moonstone

Super Skrull effectively counters Moonstone. Since her release, many players have added him, anticipating Moonstone decks. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo are also effective counters, highlighting Moonstone's vulnerability.

Moonstone's weakness lies in absorbing abilities within her lane. Unless protected (e.g., by Invisible Woman), Enchantress, Echo, or Rogue easily negate her lane. Super Skrull in another lane also disrupts the strategy.

Is Moonstone Worth It?

Moonstone is a worthwhile Spotlight Key investment for several reasons: 1) Her ability will gain value as more synergistic Ongoing cards are released; 2) She's in a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, reducing the risk of poor pulls; and 3) She offers nostalgic, high-impact combos. If you enjoy powerful board combinations, Moonstone is a strong addition.
