To enhance the gameplay experience and boost the popularity of characters such as Storm and Black Widow, who were previously underplayed, NetEase Games made significant balance adjustments to the heroes of Marvel Rivals as Season 1 commenced in January.
Following the updates, Storm has experienced substantial enhancements, resulting in a significant surge in her popularity and effectiveness. According to Rivals Meta, Storm now holds the top position in win rate, marking a dramatic leap from her former standing on the hero selection list. In competitive mode, her win percentage has soared above 56%, and her pick rate has climbed to 16%. Just a short while ago, she barely registered a 1% pick rate, but now she's surpassing heroes like Adam Warlock, Jeff, Spider-Man, Hela, Hulk, Magic, Iron Man, and many more.
Despite this, the most popular character pairing of the first season remains Cloak and Dagger, though their win percentage has dipped below 49%. On the other hand, Black Widow continues to be the least sought-after and least successful character in the game.
With hundreds of thousands of players engaging with the game, including its competitive mode, Marvel Rivals is currently witnessing growth. Achieving the Grandmaster title is an exclusive feat, attained by only 0.1% of all players, even though the Celestial rank is also available.
Reaching such heights is no small feat, yet one player has achieved something truly remarkable. In the first season, this player reached Grandmaster without taking any damage across 108 games! Playing as Rocket Raccoon, this player focused solely on healing teammates. They managed to restore over 2.9 million health points in those 108 matches and recorded nearly 3,500 assists while avoiding knockouts.
