Marvel Rivals Season 1: A New York City Nightmare - Exploring the New Maps
Marvel Rivals' first season continues to expand, introducing new heroes, cosmetics, and, most excitingly, several new maps themed around a dark, gothic New York City. Let's delve into each:
Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown
Launched at the start of Season 1, Midtown is a Convoy map, perfect for the game's payload-style mode. Players either escort or defend a moving vehicle across this dark, Dracula-infused version of Midtown Manhattan. This is the third Convoy map in Rivals, joining Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands. Landmarks include the Baxter Building, Grand Central Terminal, Stark/Avengers Tower, Fisk Tower, Ardmore's Bookstore, and Timely Trend.
Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum
This unique map, a gothic interpretation of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum, is the exclusive home of the Doom Match mode – a free-for-all deathmatch. Top players earn wins, with the best player crowned MVP. The map faithfully recreates the mystical mansion, complete with hidden secrets, impossible architecture, portals, and even a visitable Bats the Ghost Dog.
Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park
Expected to arrive later in Season 1, Central Park offers a nightmarish twist on the iconic park. Centered around a stylized Belvedere Castle, this high-point location provides a dramatic backdrop for Dracula's nocturnal activities. This follows the game's trend of incorporating locations from other Marvel media, similar to the recent Spider-Man 2 game's depiction of Central Park.
These are all the new maps currently planned for Marvel Rivals Season 1. Stay tuned for updates!
