Marvel Rivals is set to keep the excitement alive by introducing new heroes every month, starting from Season 3. The developers at NetEase have shared their ambitious plans post-Season 2, promising fresh characters and skins to enhance the gaming experience. Dive in to discover what's in store for Marvel Rivals.
Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes
New Heroes Every Month
To maintain the game's vibrancy, NetEase announced a shift from releasing two heroes per season to introducing a new hero every month. This update was revealed by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4. Alongside this, they plan to shorten each season from three months to two.
Guangguang explained, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month." This move aims to keep the game as thrilling as it was at launch, fueled by community feedback on social media. They are also considering adding new game modes in the future, which could result in up to 12 new heroes annually.
Despite the challenge of balancing these frequent additions, Guangguang highlighted in a March 14 interview with PC Gamer that the team relies on key metric data across all game modes to ensure fairness and fun.
Season 2 Details and Future Plans
Season 2, dubbed the Hellfire Gala, introduces Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds. She will join the game as a Vanguard. The season's theme is inspired by Marvel's Hellfire Club, a gathering of the elite, influencing global events.
The Hellfire Gala trailer teases new skins for several characters, including Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in formal attire. Following Emma Frost, Season 2.5 will feature Ultron, a formidable villain, marking the beginning of the Age of Ultron in the game.
Thor’s Lord of Asgard and Hawkeye’s Ronin Skins Available Now!
Marvel Rivals took to Twitter (X) on April 4 to announce the availability of new skins for Thor and Hawkeye. Thor's Lord of Asgard skin draws inspiration from his comic revival by Odin, while Hawkeye's Ronin skin reflects his time as a vigilante samurai. The Thor Rune King bundle includes the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. The Hawkeye Ronin bundle features the Ronin skin, spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
