Star Wars icon Mark Hamill experienced an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at the 2025 BAFTAs, with fellow Hollywood star Demi Moore offering unexpected support during the incident.
During an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Hamill called his pants-dropping moment "every actor's worst nightmare." The mishap occurred while he was presenting the Best Film award to Conclave at the podium.
"I had those pants fitted twice before the ceremony," Hamill explained while promoting Mike Flanagan's new film The Life of Chuck. "They felt slightly tight during the first fitting in California, so we let them out just a bit."
The situation escalated just before the event: "Twenty minutes before leaving our London hotel, I discovered they'd been loosened too much. Our dresser Mary saved the day with a safety pin - or so we thought."
True to theatrical tradition, disaster struck at the worst possible moment. "As I walked to the podium, the pin gave way. With each step, my pants slid further down - they were around my knees by the time I reached the microphone!"
When Hamill scanned the audience, he locked eyes with Demi Moore instead of his wife. His silent "Did you see my pants fall down?" query earned an enthusiastic thumbs-up and beaming smile from the Ghost star.
Channeling Jedi-like composure, Hamill carried on professionally. "I focused intensely on the teleprompter, refusing to acknowledge or joke about the situation," he told Colbert. "I basically tried to Jedi mind-trick the audience into forgetting what they'd seen."

BAFTA organizers later informed Hamill that while the podium blocked the front view, side audience members got a clear view of his predicament. Addressing concerns about a repeat performance on Colbert's show, he joked: "Rest assured, my pants aren't going anywhere tonight."
In related news, Hamill has definitively ruled out returning as Luke Skywalker's Force ghost, suggesting Star Wars should focus on new characters rather than legacy cameos.
