During today's Mario Kart World Direct, additional details were revealed about the game's innovative Free Roam mode, including its multiplayer capabilities and the activities available within the expansive world. This new mode introduces an open-world experience, allowing players to freely explore the vast landscape reminiscent of titles like Forza Horizon. Unlike previous Mario Kart games, where tracks were isolated and only accessible during races, Mario Kart World integrates them into the open world, enabling seamless transitions between tracks and offering opportunities to explore the areas in between.

While not racing, Free Roam mode transforms into an engaging adventure. The world is filled with hidden treasures such as coins and mystery ? blocks, though their exact purpose remains undisclosed. Players can also discover P-Switches that trigger mini-challenges, like collecting blue coins. Additionally, the mode features a Photo Mode, letting racers capture images of themselves in diverse poses and perspectives.

Free Roam mode supports both solo and multiplayer experiences. Up to four players can join forces on the same system through split-screen play, or up to eight players can participate locally, with two players per system.

The Direct also showcased new characters, courses, and game modes, providing fans with a comprehensive update on what to expect. To stay updated with all announcements, you can catch up on the latest news here.
