Mai Shiranui Sparks Massive Interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts are flocking back to the game to test out the latest addition to the roster: Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Capcom's hit fighting game, which has sold an impressive 4.4 million copies as of December 31, 2024, has been criticized for its content updates. However, the introduction of Mai Shiranui as the third fighter of the second season has reignited excitement among players.

The impact of Mai's inclusion was immediate and significant. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a stark contrast to the usual 24,000 to 27,000 peak players and marking the highest since May 2024. This surge in player numbers underscores the character's popularity and the draw of fresh content.

Mai Shiranui is accessible to those with a Battle Pass. In the World Tour mode, players can build relationships with her, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in the Battle Hub. Adding to the excitement, a second costume inspired by Mai's look from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been introduced.

The Battle Hub is also hosting a special guest, Professor Woshige, a revered figure in the fighting game community and a developer. Players can try out this character until March 10. Alongside these updates, Capcom has introduced new Master League ranks and rewards, enhancing the competitive aspect of the game.

To showcase Mai Shiranui's capabilities, Capcom released a trailer highlighting her techniques, further fueling anticipation and interest among the Street Fighter 6 community.
