Lies of P, the beloved steampunk Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike game, has reached its first anniversary, and director Ji-Won Choi has shared an emotional letter to the community that also teases exciting future developments. Choi's heartfelt message reflects on the past year and offers a glimpse into the upcoming DLC and a sequel.
P’s Puppets Get More Strings to Pull
A year ago, Lies of P captivated players with its dark, blood-soaked streets of Krat. Now, celebrating its anniversary, developer NEOWIZ has released a letter from Choi, who expressed gratitude to the fans for their support. He described the team's dedication during Korea's hottest summer, working tirelessly on the DLC. Choi promised that the new content would enhance the elements that made the base game successful while addressing areas for improvement.
"For the DLC of Lies of P and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve in areas we have room to grow," Choi stated. He emphasized the importance of sticking to the basics, which he finds challenging yet rewarding. Choi also extended his thanks to his colleagues at Team NOUGH and ROUND8 Studio.
The most thrilling part of Choi's letter was the tease of the upcoming DLC. He shared new concept art featuring P standing in a snowy outpost, gazing at a lighthouse. While the contents of the lighthouse remain a mystery, fans can expect it to be filled with danger and intrigue, much like the base game.
Choi also introduced a new song from the DLC's soundtrack, "Lisrim," composed by onoken in 2022. Although labeled as new, the slower tempo of the song reveals its similarity to the track Choi included. There's no copyright issue, as NEOWIZ owns both songs. The music video complements Lies of P, showcasing a character with a clockwork weapon navigating Victorian rooftops to rescue an imprisoned girl.
When Will Lies of P’s DLC Release?
While an exact release date for the DLC has not been announced, NEOWIZ's Q1 2024 Earnings Results indicate that it is expected to launch in the second half of 2024. This period will also see the release of four other games: The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy, Cats & Soup: Malang Town, Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe, and Project IG.
NEOWIZ has been keeping fans engaged, with Choi sharing an eight-minute video on YouTube last November, teasing the DLC's concept art. The video revealed two new environments: a towering industrial facility and a perilous shipwreck.
As fans eagerly await more details, Choi assured them of an imminent return, aiming to transform their anticipation into delight. For those who have completed the main game and are hungry for more, patience is key. The upcoming DLC is just the beginning, with a full-fledged sequel also on the horizon.
