This incredible achievement for the medieval RPG sequel, released February 4th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, underscores its widespread appeal. Last week, parent company Embracer Group highlighted the game's exceptional performance on Steam, boasting over 250,000 peak concurrent players—a stark contrast to the first game's 96,069 peak seven years prior. While the actual peak concurrent player count is undoubtedly higher, encompassing console players, precise figures remain unavailable from Sony and Microsoft.
Embracer Group's CEO, Lars Wingefors, lauded Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's success, praising both player and critical reception, and highlighting its strong financial performance. He emphasized the game's continued revenue potential over the next few years, attributing it to the game's immersive quality and broad appeal. Wingefors also acknowledged the dedicated work of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, and the team's ambitious roadmap for updates and new content over the next year.
This roadmap includes three expansions planned for 2025. Spring will see free updates including a barber feature, Hardcore Mode, and horse racing. Summer brings the first paid expansion, "Brushes with Death," following protagonist Henry as he assists a mysterious artist. Autumn delivers "Legacy of the Forge," exploring Henry's adoptive father's history. Finally, winter concludes with "Mysteria Ecclesia," a covert mission within the Sedlec Monastery.
