Rumors of DRM in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have been circulating. Warhorse Studios' PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, directly addressed these concerns during a recent Twitch stream. He emphatically stated that KCD2 will not utilize any DRM system, including Denuvo. He attributed the confusion to misinformation and urged fans to cease inquiries on the matter.
Stolz-Zwilling's statement was clear: "KCD 2 will not have Denuvo; it will not have any DRM at all. We never confirmed it. There were discussions, some misalignment, some misinformation, but ultimately, there will be no Denuvo." He appealed to players to stop repeatedly asking about DRM, emphasizing that any unconfirmed information is untrue.
The gaming community often expresses concern about DRM, particularly Denuvo, due to perceived performance impacts and anti-piracy measures. Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has acknowledged the negative perception, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 arrives in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game, set in medieval Bohemia, follows Henry, a blacksmith apprentice whose village faces destruction. Kickstarter backers who pledged at least $200 will receive a free copy.
