- Kaleidorider is an upcoming action RPG developed by Tencent's Fizzglee studio
- The Kaleidoriders are an all-female team dedicated to combating interdimensional invaders
- As a human blessed with Kaleido Vision, your mission is to lead them into battle
What could be more exciting than a cyberpunk action RPG? How about an action RPG on a motorcycle? While the core experience may feel familiar, how else would you describe something as vibrant, eccentric, and distinctly anime as Tencent's Fizzglee studio's upcoming release, Kaleidorider?
At first glance, several aspects of Kaleidorider become apparent. The game takes place in the near-future city of Terminus, which is under siege by interdimensional invaders known as the Integration. These beings originate from an alternate dimension called the Sea of Unconsciousness. Unsurprisingly, the only force capable of confronting them is the titular Kaleidoriders.
This motorcycle-riding squadron of young women (because naturally, the team consists mostly of female characters) cannot face this threat alone. They require the assistance of an otherwise ordinary human possessing Kaleido Vision to locate and combat the Hysteria creatures spawned by the Integration. This, of course, is where you step in.
Kiss, kiss fall in loveIt's difficult to examine Kaleidorider without noticing its prominent anime inspirations. From the bold character designs and self-described Doki-Doki (romance) narrative to the extravagant action sequences on display, the game essentially brings a classic romance-action anime to life.
That said, this isn't necessarily a criticism. The trailer alone showcases plenty of the high-energy combat, complemented by rich 3D visuals, impressive special effects, and the intriguing integration of motorcycles as a core gameplay element. If over-the-top, stylish action appeals to you, Kaleidorider will likely be right up your alley.
While awaiting Kaleidorider's release to determine if it meets expectations, why not explore beyond the official app stores and discover some exclusive titles available on third-party platforms? This week, Will investigated QuickVenture to see what this action RPG brings to the table.
