Insomniac Games Pitched Resistance 4, But Never Got It Approved

Insomniac Games almost gave us Resistance 4. While a pitch was made and the concept was strong, according to Insomniac founder and retiring president Ted Price, timing and market opportunities prevented the game from getting the green light. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Price revealed this as his favorite unmade game, expressing the team's passion for continuing the story. He noted the series' unique alternate history setting, with the Chimera invasion of 1951 UK, offered rich potential for further exploration of the aliens' origins and future conflicts.

The Resistance series, a collection of first-person shooters, was developed by Insomniac Games after their Ratchet & Clank series. Three games were released for the PlayStation 3 before the studio shifted focus to projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new entries in the Ratchet & Clank franchise.

Price's recent retirement announcement after 30 years at Insomniac Games has seen Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang appointed as Co-Studio Heads. The studio's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently launched on PC, and Marvel’s Wolverine is next on the horizon.
