Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, developed by MachineGames and published by Xbox's Bethesda, is set to make its way to the PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025. This follows its initial release on Xbox Series X/S and PC, slated for the 2024 holiday season.
Xbox's “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” Possibly Releasing on PS5
Insider and Reports Claim a 2025 PS5 Release for Indiana Jones
Recent reports suggest that the much-anticipated action-adventure game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, may be coming to the PS5 in the first half of 2025. The game will first launch as a timed console exclusive on Xbox Series X/S and PC during the 2024 holiday season. Industry insider Nate the Hate, known for accurate insights into Microsoft's multi-platform strategies, shared that the game's exclusivity window on Xbox will conclude, paving the way for a PS5 release in early 2025.
"MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release on Xbox & PC this holiday (Dec) as a timed console exclusive. After this timed-exclusive window expires, Indiana Jones & the Great Circle is planned to come to PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025," Nate the Hate posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Insider Gaming has also corroborated these claims, mentioning that several media outlets have been briefed on this under non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
Xbox Could Expand Major Releases to PlayStation
Speculation has been rife about Microsoft and Xbox's evolving stance on platform exclusivity. Earlier this year, The Verge reported that Bethesda and Microsoft were contemplating broader releases of major titles like Indiana Jones and Starfield across other platforms. While exclusivity was initially secured following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, recent moves indicate a willingness to bring select Xbox titles to competitors like the PlayStation.
Xbox has already diversified its portfolio by making games such as Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded available on rival platforms under the "Xbox Everywhere" initiative. There seems to be no strict "red line" preventing future Xbox first-party games from launching on PlayStation.
Gamers can look forward to more details about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event promises a deeper dive into the game and might reveal its release date. Other major titles like COD: Black Ops 6, MH Wilds, Civ 7, Marvel Rivals, and Dune: Awakening will also be showcased.
