Navigating Hyper Light Breaker's sprawling, Synthwave-infused Overgrowth can be challenging. Fortunately, the game features a Hoverboard, accessible from the outset, significantly boosting traversal. While not explicitly explained, this essential tool functions as a sprint mechanic, dramatically increasing speed at the cost of gradual energy depletion. This guide details Hoverboard usage and its unique capabilities.

How To Summon A Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker

Activating the Hoverboard is straightforward: hold down the Dodge button. Your Breaker will dash forward, automatically mounting the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.

Hoverboard control is intuitive. The left analog stick controls direction; leaning increases turning speed, which is slower at higher velocities. Release the Dodge button to dismount. The Hoverboard also automatically deactivates upon energy depletion.

Your current energy level is displayed beside your Breaker's companion while using the Hoverboard (or Glider). Monitor your energy; dismount briefly to recharge if necessary to avoid unexpected dismounts.

Hoverboard Movement Techniques & Special Applications

While lacking tricks or combat capabilities, the Hoverboard offers significant advantages. Notably, it floats on water, eliminating water obstacles. Its land and water performance is identical; simply maintain Hoverboard activation upon water entry to seamlessly traverse aquatic areas.

While submerged, Hoverboard summoning is impossible. You must already be riding it to maintain its function upon water contact. The Hoverboard will swiftly return to the surface regardless of entry speed or height.

Holding the Jump button while on the Hoverboard allows for a controlled descent before jumping, useful for precise jumps across significant distances. While no double-jump is available, the increased speed significantly extends jump range. Note that ducking doesn't enhance speed or jump height.
