This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay elements and characters. While the game boasts 23 4-star characters, many are outclassed in the current meta. However, some remain valuable, particularly with higher Eidolon levels. Past updates offered free character selectors, facilitating Eidolon acquisition. This leaked selector in Version 3.1 appears to revive that feature.
The leak, originating from the reputable leaker HomDGCat, specifies the four selectable characters: Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony). Interestingly, all are from the 1.0 cycle, with Asta even being an early-game acquisition. This fuels speculation that developer HoYoverse might prioritize 5-star character releases, potentially explaining the lack of new 4-star units. Rumors suggest all upcoming characters are 5-star, further supporting this theory.
The disparity between 5-star and 4-star characters is significant; the game currently features nearly 40 five-star units compared to 23 four-star units.
