For those of us with completionist tendencies, the Promo Card section of Pokemon TCG Pocket has always been a soothing experience. With a short list, it's easy to fill in all the slots. However, the mysterious new Promo Card 8 in Pokemon TCG Pocket is throwing a wrench in our plans.
When Did Promo Card 8 Appear in Pokemon TCG Pocket?
The tranquility of the Promo Card section was disrupted around January 2025 when a new slot for Promo Card 008 suddenly appeared in the Promo – A Card Dex. This unobtainable card now sits between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009), creating a glaring empty spot that's driving completionists up the wall.

Given the numbering, it's likely this missing card has been around for a while, but it didn't always show as a blank spot. Now that it does, players are eager for answers on when they can finally fill in this gap.

What Is Promo Card 008 in Pokemon TCG Pocket?
While it's not yet possible to actually obtain Promo Card 008, a bit of detective work reveals what the card looks like. If you click on cards such as Red Card (006) or Pokedex (004), you can scroll past the info to view a list of Related Cards.
There, you'll find a greyed-out version of Promo Card 008, which turns out to be an alternate art Pokedex. The card features a Pokedex surrounded by beloved Pokémon like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Clicking on the image will take you to an info page that provides more details about the card, including the fact that you haven't obtained it yet.
Currently, it's not possible to get Promo Card 008 from the Promo A set in Pokemon TCG Pocket. However, the card info suggests it will be "obtained from a campaign." This phrasing is similar to that used for the New Year 2025 Pikachu card, hinting that Promo Card 008 might be a giveaway to commemorate a special event.
This wording differs from cards obtained via missions or Wonder Pick events, which have specific event-related language. In fact, New Year’s Pikachu (Promo 026) is the only other card with a similar "campaign" note.
The exact timing and method for obtaining Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Card 008 remain a mystery, but completionists are hopeful it will be available soon. In the meantime, if the gap really bothers you, you can toggle off the option to view unowned cards at the top of the screen.
