Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Fallout 76's latest update lets you explore Appalachia as a Ghoul. Bethesda announced on March 18 that Season 20, "The Ghoul Within," is now live, offering various ghoul-related features, mechanics, and new cosmetics to customize your C.A.M.P.
In this update, players can transform into a Ghoul through the Ghoulification process, which is initiated by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline. This questline leads players to a new area in the Savage Divide, where they can meet unique characters aiding in their transformation. As a Ghoul, players gain exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with access to 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks.
The Feral ability replaces hunger and thirst stats, offering boosts based on the Feral meter's percentage. At 0%, players experience dramatic changes: "+150% Melee Damage, and lose -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."
The Glow ability lets players consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and making them glow. It also increases maximum health, heals damage, and enhances Ghoul-exclusive Perks, known as "Gherks."
There are 28 perks available, plus 2 new legendary perks for Ghouls. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are not accessible to Ghouls, as they don't need those benefits.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the radiation-infested wasteland as a Ghoul is made easier with the new Gherks and abilities. However, factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may become hostile, potentially locking you out of certain questlines.
Fortunately, a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises that allow you to access blocked content. If you find the Ghoul life isn't for you, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen. Note that this is a one-way decision, and you can't redo the Leap of Faith quest line. To become a Ghoul again, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms on the Character Screen.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and seasoned players can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost. Available for 1500 Atoms in the Season 20 update, this boost helps players dive straight into multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and certain story content.
The patch also includes various bug fixes and balance tweaks, such as accessibility improvements, combat adjustments, weapon damage changes, and more. Bethesda has also teased the upcoming update, "The Big Bloom," set for April 29, which is part of their season calendar.
Since its rocky launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has undergone significant updates, now boasting a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam with 76% positive reviews. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
