Freedom Wars Remastered presents players with formidable challenges, particularly the colossal Abductors. To effectively combat these enemies, players need to utilize every tool at their disposal. This guide focuses on acquiring and utilizing the Flare Knife, a valuable asset in these intense battles.
Obtaining the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early in the game. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. This vendor offers a range of combat items, including the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.
Utilizing the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is a single-use tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This offers an alternative to relying solely on Light Melee weapons for limb severing, even if your preferred weapon type is a Polearm or Heavy Melee weapon. Remember, you'll need to repurchase it for each Operation.
To use the Flare Knife, target the severable Abductor limb and use your Thorn to grapple onto it. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) will initiate, requiring rapid button presses to successfully sever the limb. Be aware that the Abductor might attempt to interrupt the process by leaping or crashing.
Cooperative play enhances the Flare Knife's effectiveness. Snare the Abductor repeatedly with your teammates to significantly simplify the severing process.
