At this year's Gamescom, NetEase Games unveiled their latest project, Floatopia, which is rumored to launch across multiple platforms, including Android, sometime next year. This enchanting life simulation game invites players into a world of sky-bound islands and charming characters. The trailer offers a glimpse into an idyllic setting where players can farm, fish, and personalize their floating island homes.
The Floatopia trailer opens with a dramatic announcement: the world is about to end. But fear not, this apocalypse leans more towards the cozy charm of 'My Time At Portia' than the grim survival of 'Fallout'.
End Of The World, But Cute!
In this new reality, the world consists of fractured lands floating in the open sky, inhabited by humans with supernatural powers. However, not all powers are created equal. Some characters might not get the flashy abilities like flying or laser eyes, instead receiving seemingly trivial superpowers, which can be quite a letdown.
Yet, together, they uncover that even the most seemingly insignificant abilities can harbor hidden potential.
As the Island Manager, players will engage in activities familiar to fans of Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley. You'll grow crops, fish amidst the clouds, and meticulously design every corner of your floating home. But owning a flying home also means embarking on adventures, traveling to exotic destinations, and meeting new characters.
There's plenty of room for social interaction, with options for shared adventures or hosting island parties, allowing you to show off your carefully crafted paradise to friends. However, multiplayer is entirely optional, so you can choose to keep your island all to yourself if you prefer.
You'll encounter a variety of in-game companions, each with their own unique personalities and quirks, reminiscent of the characters in My Hero Academia.
While the excitement for Floatopia is palpable, no official release date for 2025 has been confirmed yet. If you're eager to stay updated, you can pre-register on their official website.
