New First-Party PlayStation Game Will Reportedly Be Inspired by Smash Bros

Author : Hazel Feb 25,2025

A PlayStation studio, recently formed from former Bungie employees, is developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, the project's shift follows a 2023 workforce reduction and subsequent integration of Bungie staff into Sony Interactive Entertainment.

This new PlayStation first-party title, reportedly in development since at least 2020, is expected to launch in the future. While details are limited, Gummy Bears is rumored to uniquely incorporate a percentage-based damage system, similar to Super Smash Bros., instead of traditional health bars. High damage percentages result in characters being knocked off the map.

The game will feature three character classes (Attack, Defense, Support) and multiple game modes. Its visual style is described as cozy, vibrant, and "lo-fi," a departure from Bungie's previous work. This stylistic choice aims to attract a younger audience than Bungie's typical player base. The approximate size of the development team is around 40 people.
