New Character Profiles

Remake rumors are swirling again as Square Enix refreshes its FF9 anniversary site with detailed profiles for beloved characters. The new entries for Zidane, Vivi, Garnet and Steiner feature never-before-seen artwork by original character designer Toshiyuki Itahana, who's known for his work on Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo titles.

Four of the eight main party members now have interactive icons on the site, each revealing insightful character descriptions alongside the fresh illustrations. While Square Enix remains officially silent about a remake, the level of attention given to this anniversary project has fans convinced something significant is brewing behind the scenes.
New Merch Available

The anniversary celebration extends beyond digital updates with a lavish new merchandise line. The collection includes premium items like Garnet's iconic silver necklace replica (¥38,500) and a wearable version of Vivi's distinctive hat (¥17,600), now available for pre-order with November and September release dates respectively.

For collectors, there's also a surprise acrylic standee set featuring eight different character designs distributed through blind boxes. With this level of commercial activity surrounding the anniversary, many believe it's only a matter of time before Square Enix officially announces the long-anticipated remake of this PlayStation classic.
