In the vast sea of modern gaming, finding a title that truly stands out can be a challenge. Yet, My Father Lied has captured my attention with its unique blend of mystery and Lovecraftian puzzle adventure, particularly due to its compelling narrative.
My Father Lied Is Made by an Indie Developer
The creation story behind My Father Lied is as fascinating as the game itself. Ahmed Alameen, initially known for his work as a writer and filmmaker, stumbled into game development unexpectedly. In 2020, a college friend proposed a collaborative game project, which unfortunately dissolved before it even began. However, the seed of a story planted in Ahmed’s mind wouldn't let go. Driven by this vision, he embarked on a solo journey, mastering 3D modeling and the Unreal Engine to bring his concept to fruition. Even the game’s intriguing title was a result of a creative brainstorming session with his wife.
So, What’s the Game’s Story?
Delving into the heart of My Father Lied, players embark on a journey through a mystery deeply rooted in ancient Mesopotamian myths. The game introduces us to Huda, a young woman grappling with the haunting question of what happened to her father—a mystery that has lingered for two decades. As the narrative unfolds, players are drawn into a complex web of secrets, puzzles, and surprises, inspired by 7,000 years of Mesopotamian culture. The game seamlessly blends ancient tales with contemporary storytelling. Its puzzles are designed in a simple point-and-click format, featuring beautiful 2D visuals and immersive 360-degree images.
When Is It Coming to Android?
My Father Lied is set to launch on PC on May 30th, 2025. Fans of mobile gaming will have to wait a bit longer, as Android and iOS versions are slated for release in the third quarter of 2025. For those eager to learn more, the game’s official Kickstarter and Steam pages offer detailed insights. While the game isn’t yet available on the Play Store, it’s expected that the developers will shift focus to mobile platforms post the Steam launch. In the meantime, keep an eye out for our coverage on Apocalyptic Seas in High Seas Hero, now available on Android.
