As anticipated, EA is setting its sights on the Nintendo Switch 2 as a prime platform for its gaming lineup. In a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson expressed enthusiasm about Nintendo's upcoming console, hinting at plans to bring a robust selection of EA's titles to the new system.

Wilson specifically highlighted EA's lucrative sports franchises, such as Madden and FC, noting their potential to thrive on the Nintendo Switch 2. He also mentioned The Sims as another title that could resonate well with Switch 2 players.

"Anytime a new console enters the market, it's a boon for us," Wilson stated. "It opens up opportunities to attract and engage new players. Historically, our franchises have seen great success on Nintendo platforms. We anticipate that titles like FC, Madden, and others will continue to generate excitement on the new console, just as they have in the past."

He further elaborated on The Sims, referencing the success of the My Sims cozy bundle, which saw 50% of its players being new to EA. "This represents a tremendous opportunity for us," he added.

"While our current models don't account for it yet, our expectation is that a great new console in the market will provide access to new players and communities, and our IPs are well-positioned to capitalize on that."

Are you planning on getting a Switch 2? ---------------------------------------

While it's no surprise to hear that Madden and FC will make their way to the Nintendo Switch 2, fans are curious about what versions of these games will be available. Historically, EA has released "legacy" editions of FIFA on the original Switch, but with the rebranding to FC, the company has aimed for feature parity across platforms. Given the enhanced power of the Switch 2, fans might expect FC 26 to closely mirror versions on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

With Nintendo officially announcing the Switch 2, the gaming community is piecing together what to anticipate in terms of available titles. A variety of third-party games are rumored to be in development for the console. In an interview with IGN, Firaxis, the developer behind Civilization 7, expressed intrigue about the Switch 2’s Joy-Con mouse mode. French gaming company Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has already prepared games for the Switch 2. Additionally, the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong is speculated to be coming to the platform.

As for Nintendo's own offerings, a new Mario Kart game is in the works. More details are expected to be revealed during a Nintendo Direct scheduled for April.
