EA Allows Battlefield Leaks to Thrive Online

Author : Leo Apr 12,2025

Despite the stringent measures, including non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) designed to keep details under wraps, EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game has leaked online anyway. The internet is now buzzing with dozens of videos and screenshots from players involved in the closed playtesting, showcasing their experiences and the game's features.

The leaked footage aligns with the "modern" setting previously teased by Vince Zampella, setting it apart from its predecessors. A quick dive into the Battlefield subreddit reveals intense firefights, glimpses of the game's hallmark destructible environments, and a range of new mechanics. Among these are the ability to hang off vehicles and dragging wounded teammates out of harm's way, which have caught the attention of fans and players alike.

Surprisingly, EA seems to be taking a relaxed approach to these leaks. Unlike other publishers who typically rush to remove early gameplay footage due to concerns over incomplete elements like animations, UI, and graphics, EA has not issued any takedowns, even though players are technically breaching their confidentiality agreements.

This leniency could be attributed to the positive reception the leaks have garnered, a stark contrast to the Battlefield 2042's lukewarm reception. The community appears pretty pleased with what they've seen so far, expressing optimism and excitement.

"I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" said one player. Another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me." Enthusiasm was also evident in comments like, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" exclaimed another happy player. Additionally, someone opined, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."

EA expects its next Battlefield game to launch in the fiscal year 2026, with a release window between April 2025 and March 2026. Following our first official unveiling just last month, it's clear that the new installment will feature the return of a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a much-anticipated element that was notably absent in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
