We're thrilled to offer an exclusive sneak peek at five cards that are likely to be hot picks at the draft table next month. Magic: The Gathering - 5 New Cards from Tarkir: Dragonstorm

These five cards form what's known as a "cycle," each belonging to one of Magic's colors and sharing common design elements. Specifically, these are low-cost, common-rarity creatures that not only tie into one of Tarkir's three-color clans but also enable you to convert mana into a color from that clan.
"Three-color limited environments require extensive mana fixing across all rarities," explains Wizards of the Coast Senior Game Designer Adam Prosak. "Our goal was to make mana fixing accessible to many decks, so we crafted numerous designs to address mana issues. These creatures are particularly useful as they allow players to advance on the board while simultaneously developing their mana—unlike other solutions like tapped lands, which only provide mana and can put you at a disadvantage."

In Tarkir: Dragonstorm, these cards showcase the evolution of the clans since their last appearance. "From the passionate, action-oriented Jeskai monks to the Temur's Whisper magic, the Sultai's Nagas as jungle guardians and avengers, the Mardu's military prowess with supporting roles (and the diversity of dragons), to the Abzan clerics working to regrow lost kin trees," Bond explains.
One point of criticism for recent Magic sets has been an over-reliance on tropes or thematic gimmicks, even when revisiting past planes. However, Tarkir: Dragonstorm distinguishes itself with a more straightforward approach to revisiting Tarkir. Senior Worldbuilding Art Director Forrest Schehl acknowledges the importance of such feedback to Wizards of the Coast. He notes, "The top-level pitch for Tarkir was established well before the release of Murders at Karlov Manor and subsequent sets, and it remained unchanged. Our aim was to integrate Dragons and Clans in a fresh way, emphasizing the Dragonstorms that define the plane. Lauren and I felt the pressure to get it right from the start, and we were committed to crafting the next chapter of this beloved plane with authenticity and substance."Tarkir: Dragonstorm is now available for preorder, with a scheduled release in both physical and digital formats on April 11, and in-store prerelease events beginning on April 4.
