‘Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince’ Is Coming to iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th With All DLC Included From the Switch Release

TouchArcade Rating: Last year's Switch release of Square Enix's monster-collecting RPG, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, captivated me. Despite some technical hiccups, its charm and addictive gameplay surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2. While I anticipated a PC port shortly after the Switch launch, similar to Dragon Quest Treasures, a mobile release was unexpected. Square Enix surprised us by announcing that the previously Switch-exclusive title will arrive on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, complete with all previously released DLC, including the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Digital Deluxe Edition content. See the trailer below:

Comparison images showcasing the game's appearance on mobile, Switch, and Steam are available on the official Japanese website. Here's one example:

The Steam and mobile versions will omit the online battle mode from the Switch version, which allowed real-time player-versus-player combat. This is confirmed on the respective store pages.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently available on Nintendo Switch for $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). As a huge fan of the Switch version, I'm eager to review it on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. It's fantastic to see Square Enix bringing more Dragon Quest titles to mobile so swiftly after their initial console release. Given the typical delays between console and mobile launches in this series (as seen with Dragon Quest Builders), I wouldn't have expected a mobile port until 2027. The mobile price is set at $29.99, and the Steam version at $39.99. Pre-register on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

Have you played Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on Switch? Will you be giving the mobile or Steam versions a try in two weeks?
